The Aglianico vine seems to have been introduced by the Greeks around the 6th-7th century. BC, during their colonization of the Tyrrhenian coasts. Today, Antonio Caggiano produces this splendid Taurasi DOCG “Vigna Macchia dei Goti” from Aglianico grapes. It is left to mature in French oak barriques for a period ranging from 12 to 18 months. Aristocratic and complex, rich in fruity hints and tertiary aromas, it is the ideal wine to be paired with tasty, flavored and structured dishes.
Intense ruby red. It has a penetrating and deep olfactory bouquet, made up of tones of dark fruit, plum and cherries, to which are added nuances of liquorice and woody, mineral and toasted hints. When tasted, it proves to be complex, with robust but well-managed tannins, which will allow it to age wonderfully for the next ten years at least.
It is to be combined with the second courses of the land menu, based on red meat, game or game.
